On the Move

General updates

The last two weeks have been spent on the road fundraising, moving, and enjoying a few last visits with family and friends in Hurricane and Nashville. This season involves a lot of travel as we continue building our support team. On Monday, we were in Parkersburg meeting with a church missions board as we continue sharing the vision God has given us for Hungary.

We have just 16% left to reach our monthly support goal—that's $1,339/ month remaining!

This last month, God provided $475 in new monthly support through ten individuals, families, and churches who joined our partnership team, along with many generous special gifts. We are incredibly grateful for each person who has chosen to support this ministry.

One of the sweetest surprises this month has been seeing several youth and young adults become monthly supporters. Their commitment and excitement for missions has been really cool to see.

Commissioned by the King

Before leaving Morgantown, we had the privilege of spending time with missionaries who have faithfully served for many years in the 10/40 Window, often ministering in places where following and sharing Christ can come with significant challenges and risks.  We were honored to join them, along with our pastor and Emily's parents, for lunch.

Over four hours, we shared eight different dishes family-style around the table—foods from the cultures where they had served—they taught us about the meals, traditions, and the importance of hospitality and serving in those communities.

We listened to stories from their ministry, shared about our own calling, and received wisdom and encouragement from those who have faithfully served before us. Sitting around that table, I remembered why we are doing what we are doing.

If I'm honest, this season of fundraising can sometimes make our calling feel more like a task. We committed to ministry, but hadn't envisioned fundraising. This step of the journey can be frustrating at times. Yet our conversation that afternoon brought a needed perspective. They shared what an incredible honor it is to be invited by God to participate in His work of making Christ known among the nations.

Their words reminded me of a quote by David Livingstone that shifted my perspective on missions years ago:

"If a commission by an earthly king is considered an honor, how can a commission by a Heavenly King be considered a sacrifice?"

What an honor it is to be entrusted with the role of ambassadors for Christ and advocates for the people we will one day serve. Fundraising is just part of God's provision for ministry. It is not about us; it is about joining with others to make it possible for the Hungarian people to hear the Good News of Jesus.

Field update

While we continue preparing to leave, ministry in Hungary is moving forward. Recently, Haylee visited and helped us begin working through some of the paperwork needed for our transition to the field.

Looking ahead, the English Ministries team will welcome a group of students from Asbury University on June 19. These students will help serve and staff the summer camps that begin on June 22. Please join us in praying for the team as they prepare and that God would use these camps to create meaningful connections and open doors for the Gospel.
